BBC: Elvenquest

Recently, a friend of mine introduced me to the BBC radio show Elvenquest.

Elvenquest is a radio parody of the fantasy role-playing genre written and driected by Anil Gupta and Richard Pinto.

The basic story includes the protagonist Sam Porter, a fantasy novelist, who along with his dog Amis is transported to the land of Lower Earth. There he meets the questers including Vidar the Elf, Penthiselea the Warrior Princess, and Dean the Dwarf. Together they search for the Sword of Asnagar, a great artifact, and battle the evil Lord Darkness and his yes-man Kreech.

If you haven't listened to these episodes I strongly encourage you to *acquire* them and give a listen. I listened to them on the way to and from work and found myself laughing out loud. Please report back and tell me what you think!

  3. I spoke to the person who put me on to the series. As far as he knows there's no plan to make more. Let's hope they do!

Apparently the voice actress of penthisileia (sp) is a person of note. I had no idea.

  4. That was great, thanks for the tip!

I also came across the '80s series "Hordes of the Things" by Andrew Marshall and John Lloyd.

It is a bit more of a send-up of the Rings with a cast of great voice actors on it, some of whom are sadly no longer with us...

    Thanks again!
