I've been reading
The Caverns of Thracia with much enjoyment.
I'm looking over it for ideas for my own game. It's nice to see some of the things I'm doing already contained therein, as well as giving me some new ideas.
Judges Guild materials weren't on the shelves of the gaming stores of my youth, so I find it interesting to look them over.
I'm curious have you ever played, DMed, or read a good game-report of The
Caverns of Thracia?
The "White Sandbox" campaign of New York Red Box is a mashup of The Caverns of Thracia and The Lost City, run with OD&D. It seems pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loved the Caverns but I have DM'd it in around 30 years. My memory of it so hazy now but I kind of remember the players fleeing from death (Thanatos?) in one section. We had a blast from what I recall.
ReplyDeleteMy very favorite recap is here:

Enjoy! I did.
I got the 3.5 version that Necromancer Games did. Very interesting. I look forward to running it. I can't get my hands on the original.
By the way, I love the myconids, the Horror on the Hill, and I came by way of my delight with the Meatshield generator. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteI've long wanted to run the Caverns of Thracia.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to the Alexandrian recap, fictivefantasies.
