I wholeheartedly agree. I always call it Dominion Day. If anyone gives me grief over it, I take a long draw from my meerschaum pipe and blow smoke in his face.
But, if we hadn't changed it from Dominion Day to Canada Day wouldn't it be "Metro Day" now instead. I think I objected more to renaming the grocery chain than the holiday.
BTW ... we only ended up with "Dominion of Canada" (which I actually like) because the first two choices were deemed as being all-too likely to raise the ire of our American neighbours - "Kingdom of Canada," or "Confederacy of Canada."
