Check out these Bad Boys

I just received my second proof copy of Barrowmaze II and the revised version of Barrowmaze I, so I thought I would take a picture and share. They look super sweet, if you don't mind me saying so.

I want to draw your attention to the back cover of BMI with a brilliant homage to one of my favourite adventures that Cory Hamel and I dreamed up months ago.

Also I want to thank Cory for really stepping up to bat a few weekends ago and redoing the covers of both books in a different program (long story). He has been super, super awesome. He deserves a tip of the cap.

  4. What is changed in the revised BWI that should make me, someone who bought the original, buy it again?

  5. GREAT WORK!!!!! Looking forward to getting my copy.

  6. The revised copy has a bunch of edits but a bunch of new art pieces and the location of rooms to work in concert with the illustration booklet created via the Indiegogo campaign. I hope that answers your question. Cheers.

  8. Nice pictures! Can't wait for the pdfs.

One of the reasons I like Barrowmaze (and there are many reasons!) is that it fits so easily into my campaign world.

For me, the Barrowmaze is all that is left of a Lawful city of men and elves, which was destroyed centuries ago by enemy sorcerers of Thasaidon. So much of the adventure naturally fits with this: Nergal (Thasaidon in my campaign), Set and Orcus, the presence of a huge series of burial vaults, the runic tablets with both evil and good effects, the pit of chaos, etc. I can't wait to start playing, if I can get a regular game going. . .

  9. The wait for the Indiegogo pdfs is agonising, especially watching as the pdfs go up on RPGNow/DTRPG in the interim.

  10. I'm still getting the "old" Barrowmaze I download from RPGNow/DTRPG, even though it shows as being updated on Sep 25.

  11. I've actually had trouble with rpgnow recently too. Not only in terms of the pdfs but also the slow service. They started delivering about 1/5 of the pdfs when I told them their plan wasn't a very good one. They are working on it. Hang in there.

I will try sending an email update to everyone when the hardcopies clear.

  12. It's easy to have the pdfs sent via DTRPG/RPGNow yourself; I do it all the time. Simply log in to your account, under PROMOTION click "Send Complimentary Copies", select the appropriate product under the "Send Which Product?" dropdown, pop the list of recipients into the "Additional Recipients" box, add a "Note" if you want, and hit "Send".

  13. I also had the problem about newer files not being updated automatically when I put up an edited version of AH. Can't remember why it happened, but a quick e-mail to DTRPG had it sorted in short order.

  14. Yes, I know how to send copies but when your total number exceeds the complimentary limit you need to get them involved

  15. Ah, my bad then. I never hit the limit in a 30 day period, so I forgot the 150 copy limit was there.

  16. Also, I just talked to RPGnow on the phone and they are going to send the remaining pdfs today. I hope that helps. There were a few unanticipated bumps with them facilitating the crowdsourcing fulfillment.

If it was up to me there would have been no hitches - because that's how I roll.

  17. Download code arrived, pack downloaded, but it's time for bed so no browsing till the morrow, sadly. Can't wait for the Barrowmaze I pdf download issue to be sorted next so I can see the all-new art. Great work, Greg.

  18. I got my PDF from Drive Thru today, and everything looks great. I did have a question about Barrowmaze I however. I had originally purchased that from Drive Thru. However, when I went to download the updated file, it looks like I got the same file I had before. Is there an easy, obvious way to tell if I got the update? From the picture above, I'm guess the back cover should be different. If that is correct, then I did get the original file again. Do you know if there something that I would need to do get the new file?

    Thanks,
    Mark

  19. RPGnow are going to update buyers of BMI following the delivery of BMII. I can't say when exactly. I've emailed them on it. Be sure you can receive updates on your RPGnow account. Not everybody has that setting open and it makes for a pain in the behind.

  20. Greg,

I just looked through BM 2, and I must say it looks outstanding! The art simply couldn't be better. If the writing matches up with what you did in BM 1, you will have provided the OSR with a new standard of excellence to live up to. Congratulations!

  21. This is actually pretty strange space - it feels like the calm right before everybody tells me they hate it lol.

  22. Been reading through BMII and am pretty impressed... Definitely achieves the rank of "classic megadungeon", and looks like it would be a helluva adventure to play. I particularly like the expansion of the barrow mounds on the surface and the interaction between the cults.

I've just got to add some laser beams and mutants, and pitch it to the players...

    Congrats.

  23. I put some of my thoughts into a post on my gameblog:

Kudos to Greg Gillespie, and congratulations on your success.

  24. Greg,

I haven't received any sign of Barrowmaze 2, if at all possible I can be reached at brucecallan2@gmail.com or brucecallan@hotmail.com. Looking forward to it!

  26. Those hard backs look awesome. Can't wait to get mine! Thanks!

I've been looking through the PDF and the artwork and layout are great!

  27. Thanks Bill.

The art was really fun to do. I enjoyed working with all the artists. Hopefully I didn't annoy the hell out of them :)

  28. Got your email about the updated file of BM 1. But when I downloaded it, it was the non-updated Barrowmaze.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That is the email rpgnow sent and it doesn't have a code right? Those guys are screwing up a two-car funeral.

Check your spam to see if you received a note there. I will try somethingelse. Give me a moment.

  30. I think everyone who ordered BM1 a long time ago is having the same issue getting the updated BM1 files, whether they have notifications turned on or not. I keep getting the codes via e-mail, but the downloads keep giving me the older BM1 file (with the all-black, white text, no-art back cover). Like I said, I had the same issue when I tried updating the AH file, and I wish I could remember how it was solved. I know I contacted DTRPG and they told me, and it turned out pretty straightforward, but I can't for the life of me remember what the issue was now. :( My gut says it had something to do with changing the new file name so it is not exactly the same as the old file (so the replacement was labelled v2, for example), but I can't be sure.

  31. Ok, I just did some serious email overkill. Those with email updates allowed from rpgnow will have like 4 copies in their inboxes. Sorry, my bad.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bingo! Worked that time; got the "revised and updated" badge on front and image on back.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Confirmed, I got 4 emails. ;-D It's all good! Downloaded and have the updated BM:I! Now time to read all the goodies and get a game planned.

Thinking about starting up a little OSR Barrowmaze campaign at the FLGS.

  34. Looking forward to BMII. 99% positive I am going to be using BM in my upcoming G+ DCC game.

  35. If I would buy the print versions now out of say DriveThruRpg would I get the versions with new art?
